Need and motivation of the project:
In mineral processing crushing and especially grinding are using a lot of energy, therefore further development needs to be done on the possibilities to do selective comminution. Energy and also chemicals could be saved significantly as that kind of concept is further developed.

Main set targets:
Most important development objectives are to decrease energy and chemical usage, to find optimal ways to control crushing and grinding (taking into account the mineralogy of feed ore) and the removal of the fines and the gangue minerals as early as possible.

 

Key results

Many different kind of testing, measuring and analyzing devices were used and their applicability was widely evaluated.

Commercialization measures and/or potential:

The methods tested and utilized in this project were mainly already commercialized by the companies and in this research they were applied into own studies, so therefore there is not big commercial potential for these results as such (further research is needed).
